The Jewish Theatre Workshop Presents "The Dybbuk" (Between Two Worlds)- A Tale of Love, Kabbalah, Possession, and Destiny by S. Ansky

Four Performances:
Saturday, March 5, 2011 - 8 PM
Sunday, March 6, 2011 - 2 PM
Saturday, March 12, 2011 - 8 PM
Sunday, March 13, 2011 - 2 PM

Auditions:
Room B-02, Weinberg Park Heights JCC, 5700 Park Heights Ave, Baltimore, MD 21215
Sunday, December 19, 2010 - 11:30 AM to 5 PM (no auditions beginning after 4 PM)
Tuesday, December 21, 2010 - 6:30 PM to 9 PM (no auditions beginning after 8:00 PM)
Wednesday, December 22, 2010 - Callbacks as necessary, beginning at 6:30 PM
Other times may be scheduled with the Director (contact info below)

What to prepare:
A short memorized monologue, of any type, between one and three minutes long is preferred, but not necessary. There will also be cold readings from the script. Resumes and/or headshots are accepted as well, but also not necessary.

Rehearsals:
Rehearsal schedule to be determined.
No rehearsals on Fridays or Saturdays.

Available roles:
All roles are available at the open audition. They include:

Khonon - Male, early to mid twenties - Brilliant Kabbalah student/prodigy
Leah - Female, early to mid twenties - Friend and love of Khonon
Frade - Female, early 50s on up - Leah's grandmother or nurse
Sender - Male, late 40s to mid 50s - Leah's father
The Messenger - Male, any age - A mysterious stranger to the town
Gittel - Female, early to mid twenties - Leah's friend
Menashe - Male, mid-twenties to early thirties - Leah's arranged bridegroom
Nahman - Male, early 50s+ - Menashe's father
Reb Azrielke - Male, elderly - a Tzadik (the town sage)
Mikhoel - Male, anywhere from mid-twenties to early 50s - Azrielke's gabbai (assistant)
Reb Shimshon - Male, early 40s to late 50s - the town Rabbi
Meyer - Male, any age - the Shammes (caretaker) of the Brinitz Synagogue
Henekh - Male, early to mid twenties - student friend of Khonon
Three Batlonim/Three Hasids - 3 Males, all any age from 20 to 50 - Will double as scholars, dreamers, and Hasidic followers
One or Two Rabbinical Judges - Male(s) - 40+
