Drama Learning Center's teen professional company will present Bring It On the Musical next month. Based on the major motion picture franchise of the same name, Bring It On the Musical follows would-be cheer captain Campbell as she is suspiciously re-districted from preppy Truman High to the hard-knock Jackson High. Against the odds, Campbell befriends the head of Jackson's dance crew, Danielle. Together, they form a powerhouse cheerleading squad to stand toe-to-toe with Campbell's old team while they learn about the complexities of friendship, jealousy, betrayal, and forgiveness.

Bring It On the Musical features a book by Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q), music by Lin-Manuel Miranda (In The Heights) and Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), and lyrics by Amanda Green (High Fidelity). With the Broadway pedigree of its creators, there's no wonder that Bring It On was nominated for a Best Musical TONY Award in 2013.

Drama Learning Center's Teen Professional Company, TYA (Teaching Young Actors), presents its spring production of Bring It On the Musical from January 12-20, 2015 at Drama Learning Center in Columbia. Available by audition only, the TYA program allows students to work in a professional theatre environment as they learn about all aspects of theatrical work. TYA has a strong history of bringing cutting-edge titles to local audiences. The group has previously mounted area premieres of Carrie the Musical, GHOST the Musical, 13 the Musical, Legally Blonde, and High School Musical. This production continues TYA's long-standing tradition of producing professional contemporary musical theatre.

TYA has partnered with Melanie Duncan at All Pro Cheerleading to bring authenticity to the competition sequences. Fresh off of the All Pro Diamonds' successful competition season with multiple championships, Melanie is enjoying pushing TYA members to develop new skills. Local dancer and choreographer CJ Cunningham is bringing his expertise to the Jackson dance sequences.

Bring It On the Musical is presented by permission through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
