Take a Swedish Band (that isn't technically a band) and a handful of brilliant Baltimore based improvisers, and what do you get? The Siegfried Olsson Band presents Too Hip for the Room, a sketch comedy show that combines the talents of YouTube sketch group, the Siegfried Olsson Band with members of the Baltimore Improv Group, and the Baltimore/DC area producer of Mortified.
The show includes sketches about Porno in Provo, the trials of committing first time human sacrifice, love that doesn't stop with death, and Sexual Harassment training post-Weinstein. Sketches range from the prurient and purile to the subtle and sensitive.
The performers include Mike Harris & Zach Brewster-Geisz, the founders of the Siegfried Olsson Band. Both are alumni and faculty at the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. Zach has performed locally with Baltimore Shakespeare Factory as well as acting throughout DC and Northern VA. Mike has performed and taught with the Baltimore Improv Group since 2006.
The Boys in the Band will be joined by three hilarious Baltimore performers. Ti Coleman is a longtime performer with BIG and member of the nationally renowned troupe, Casually Dope. In addition, Ti is the producer of, It Didn't Get Better, a Black Queer Comedy showcase. Kelly Lloyd is a fabulous BIG improviser who recently starred in the film, Bored in the USA, directed by local standup/filmmaker, Mike Finazzo. Rounding out the cast is actress Alex Hewett, producer of the DC/Baltimore chapter of the National Storytelling Series, Mortified. Never before has the Siegfried Olsson Band had a rhythm section this strong.
