Othello The Moor of Venice is believed to have been written in approximately 1603. The work revolves around four central characters: Othello, his wife Desdemona, his lieutenant Cassio, and his trusted advisor Iago. Attesting to its enduring popularity, the play appeared in 7 editions between 1622 and 1705. Because of its varied themes of racism, love, jealousy and betrayal it remains relevant to the present day and is often performed in professional and community theatres alike. The play has also been the basis for numerous operatic, film and literary adaptations.
Run of the Mill Theater is now hosting a Playwrights / Directors LAB. This group will meet once a month at Baltimore's newest incubator...The LOF/t, (Load of Fun Theater) located in the heart of the Station North Arts District. The purpose of this newly formed group is to explore new works by local playwrights while simultaneously creating opportunities for aspiring directors and emerging actors. Several plays, developed in this workshop setting, will eventually be produced as a part of Run of the Mill Theater's 2011 season.
THE LOF/t is currently looking for actors and interviewing emerging directors for future LAB events. Actors, please send an electronic copy of your headshot and resume to runofthemilltheater@gmail.com with "Playwright/Directors LAB" in the subject line.
