MET's resident improv and sketch comedy group, The Comedy Pigs, is gearing up for what promises to be another highly successful Comedy Extravaganza onFriday, August 5th and Saturday, August 6th at 8pm. With an awesome line-up of improvisers and stand-up comedians from across the MD/VA/DC area, both nights will feature completely different rosters of talent, with different forms of comedy, including short-form improv games, long-form improv, stand-up, sketches, and everything in between. More Extra! More Ganza!
The Comedy Pigs formed in 1992 and have performed at national comedy festivals, been featured on Comedy Central, and been guests at the National Pork Producers Convention. Thomas Scholtes, Comedy Pig and MET Company Member, explains "The Summer Comedy Extravaganza gives Frederick a chance to see people they might never see-unless they were to head to Baltimore or Washington DC. Comedy improv artists from across the DMV area bring their differing styles and ways of playing improv to MET as a fun complement to the Pigs short-form improv that audiences have come to know and love."
Honoring the "ensemble" in Maryland Ensemble Theatre, The Comedy Pigs Extravaganza is a team effort. The Comedy Pigs (Matt Bannister, Wayne Denier, Jon Paul Duvall, Sonny Etiler, Erik Hadden, Cal Holderbaum, Anne Raugh, Jeff Schnorr, Thomas Scholtes, Laura Stark, Steve Strickland, Matt Vance) will be joined by Huggy Smalls, Jiggy & Gio, Christine McQuaid, Company Blood Drive, Topher & You, Isabell Duarte, Ladies Night Out, Mason Improv Association, and Calvin)
