Summer is Brilliant at The Community College of Baltimore County

The Community College of Baltimore County continues to celebrate its 60th Anniversary with a full slate of programs and events throughout the summer.

Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre kicks off its 45th season June 9 in the newly renamed F. Scott Black Theatre with "Arsenic and Old Lace," fittingly directed by F. Scott Black, the original Artistic Director of Cockpit in Court. "Forever Plaid," "Madagascar, Jr.," "Sister Act," and "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" round out the season at CCBC Essex.

With Chautauqua 2017: Voices from the Great War, Maryland Humanities and CCBC explore World War I as seen by President Woodrow Wilson, Gen. John J. Pershing and Civil Rights spokesman W.E.B. Du Bois. This event, which presents a single historical figure each night, will be held July 7-9 at CCBC Catonsville. The program is in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the United States' entry into the great war.

History comes alive with a "conversation with an historical figure." Scholar-actors appear in costume and address the audience as the historical figure and then answers questions as that person. The actor then steps out of character and tells how he researched the historical figure for the performance. Music of the period precedes the presentation to set the tone. Due to the generosity of its sponsors, the program remains free and open to the public.

Suddenly, their movie-star sister, Masha, swoops in with her new boy-toy Spike. Old resentments flare up, eventually leading to threats to sell the house. Also on the scene are sassy maid Cassandra, who can predict the future and a lovely young aspiring actress named Nina, whose prettiness somewhat worries the imperious Masha.
