The Friends and Neighbors Festival Production Manager is the point of contact for the 5 shows included in the 2011 Friends and Neighbors Festival (festival runs June 9 - July 9, 2011).
The Production Manager is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the production; this includes seeking the appropriate staff for the event, scheduling rehearsals, and managing tech rehearsals and performances. The job of the Production Manager begins in March, 2011. The Production Manager will assist the Strand Theater's Artistic Director in selecting the scripts to be produced based on a set of 15 finalists. The majority of preliminary work will involve assisting each playwright with finding a director, stage manager, and casting.
The Production Manager will schedule rehearsals and "babysit" the theater during rehearsals. During the production, the Production Manager will help with each show's tech and may rotate as House Manager, Box Office Manager, and Booth Operator during the production. The Production Manager must work well with big personalities, be extremely detail oriented, willing to pitch in where needed, and invest a great deal of care in the production value of each show.
The stipend for this position is $500. This position demands a great deal of time (hours are typically 6-10pm during a show weeks, and flexible in the months leading up to the performances), please consider this before applying.
