The Station North Arts and Entertainment District has come together to raise goods for Project PLASE. Project PLASE addresses homelessness in Baltimore by providing transitional housing, permanent housing and supportive services to homeless adults. PLASE serves the most vulnerable and underserved, including persons with mental illness, HIV/AIDS, addiction, developmental disabilities, and ex-offenders.

Venues throughout the Station North Arts and Entertainment District will be offering discounts on services for patrons bringing in an item from PROJECT PLASE’s holiday wish list. Wish list items include: giftcards (grocery stores, Target, Walmart, CVS), clothes (sweaters, jeans, dress pants, Dickies), yoiletries, toys (dolls, games), home items (blender, toaster, towels, comforter set, kitchen curtains), winter items (hats, gloves, socks, scarves), and shoes (boots).

“We wanted to do something as a community for the holidays,” says Jayme Kilburn, Strand Theater Artistic Director, “Project PLASE serves the homeless in our community, and it is our turn to serve them.” Bins are being placed at various Station North businesses and venues beginning Wednesday, November 17. Project PLASE will be collecting the bins on Monday, December 20, 2010 in time to distribute the goods for the holidays. “PLASE is so appreciative of the Station North Arts District for pulling together for us this holiday season” says Lauren Stoler, Project PLASE’s Community Projects Coordinator. “We are very excited about this new partnership.”

Philosophy: Our philosophy is to stand with and serve marginalized and underprivileged individuals and families who lack access to resources in the larger community. We help persons in need through a philosophical and practical approach of advocacy. Advocacy by definition means "speaking on behalf of." In practice, it means accessing and developing resources to meet basic human needs.
