Spotlighters Theatre presents Twelfth Night (What You Will) by William Shakespeare Nothing like a little creative license right? Especially if it's Shakespeare!
Director
Phil Gallagher takes an especially interesting approach to Twelfth Night, also known as What You Will. Gallagher originates from England, where he received his Masters Degree from Cambridge University. Gallagher wears two hats for this production, directing and playing the esteemed Sir Toby Belch. Alongside Gallagher is his highly-trusted Assistant Director and Set Designer Sherrionne Brown. This talented duo utilizes their background of forty-plus years of experience in theater to infuse Twelfth Night with an extra element, comic relief.
Gallagher's Twelfth Night sets itself in the 18th Century along the Adriatic Sea, in the Mediterranean; a shipwreck that evolves into a case of mistaken identity; but with Gallagher at the helm, there are sure to be plenty of laughs to go around.
Gallagher and Brown both made mention that they think the audience will be giggling and laughing throughout. As the plot continues to unfold, it exposes more shocking twists and turns than a D.C. map, ultimately leading up to a rather thought-provoking finish
Twelfth Night also showcases an extremely talented cast, both on stage and behind the scenes. We are pleased to welcome Trisha Geiger (Stevenson University Theatre student)as Stage Manager for her second production here at Spotlighters as well as incredibly talented Costume Designer Helen
Mary Bell, who joins us for her ninth show, that's just for Spotlighters alone!
Not to be outdone, the talented cast is headed off by Jennifer Mikulski (as Viola/Cesario), Michael Leight (as Duke Orsino) and Karina Ferry (as Olivia). Jennifer is a member of the Shakespeare Factory Players, and is excited to be performing in her favorite Shakespearean Comedy at Spotlighters. Karina Ferry and Michael Leicht are both extremely talented actors and are
excited to be making their return to Spotlighters. Ferry and Leicht most recently appeared at Vagabond Theatre as Nora and Torvald in A Doll's House and as Bella and Jack Manningham in Gaslight at Spotlighters Theatre.
With such a talented director, cast and crew, Twelfth Night should be, as Director
Phil Gallagher said, "a rollicking good time!"
