Single Carrot Theatre opens it's 5th season with a provocative look at faith in the modern world.
Church by Young
Jean Lee represents somewhat of a departure for the company, tackling a subject fairly untouched by Single Carrot Theatre in its four previous seasons- religion. Now the doors on that particular taboo are being opened under the direction of
Nathan Fulton, who previously directed the company's 4th season opener one year ago, Natural Selection by
Eric Coble. Fulton's views on his latest directorial effort are expressed with excitement about the controversial subject matter, "Perhaps today we can all let go for an hour and explore this contentious issue without punching out our neighbors or lighting anything on fire", he said in a statement.
The company offered no such promises.
THE BASICS
WHAT :
Church
By Young
Jean LeeDirected by
Nathan FultonA church service's innate element of theatricality is explored through the insight of four provocative ministers in this powerful, subversive, sometimes confrontational encounter. Shattering any illusion of a separation between audience and performer, Lee's words explode into reality. Bear witness to a truly spiritual experience, leaving us to question what it really means to be a believer.
