A video shoot at Rep Stage in Columbia, MD, is holding a casting call for mature non-union actresses.
Rep Stage is in the prep phase for show #2 of the REP STAGE 09-10 season, HYSTERIA. There are quite a few unique technical challenges. One such challenge is described by director Steven Carpenter below:
"As act 2 of HYSTERIA unravels and Sigmund Freud begins to hallucinate under the effects of morphine, the contents of his unconscious are spilled out onto the stage: his fears, doubts, guilts, etc. One of these images is of his four sisters, who he has not been able to bring out of Nazi-occupied Austria. In our production, we will produce a short video segment of the sisters as they call out Freud's name, pleading for his help. We will shoot this in front of a green screen so that we can place the sisters in a variety of locales, culminating in them being led to their deaths in a concentration camp. We should only need a few hours to get you into costume and get the shots we need. The finished video segments will probably only run a total of a couple of minutes, at most, in the course of the show. Thanks for your interest in this -I hope we will see you at the taping!"
Rep Stage is looking for four female (non-union) volunteers to be a part of this short video segment. You will receive credit in the program, you will receive snacks, complimentary tickets to the production of HYSTERIA and you will be part of this very exciting play which features Bruce Nelson, Conrad Feininger, Jeff Baker and Sunshine Cappelletti. After we have actors committed, Yvette Ryan, costume designer, will get sizes and track down appropriate costumes.
The casting will be on Tuesday, August 11 from 11:15am to 2 PM at the TV studio at Howard Community College.
HYSTERIA is by Terry Johnson and directed by Steven Carpenter. It runs October 7 through November 1, 2009. All hell breaks loose when Sigmund Freud's final days battling cancer are interrupted by Salvador Dali (starring Rep Stage favorite Bruce Nelson) and an attractive young student in this rollicking farce that bares Freud's own troubled psyche.
