Due to the snow-driven cancellations of the opening weeks of "The Glass Menagerie," Rep Stage has announced it will extend the production through March 14, 2010. The 11 additional performances are posted below, and a full schedule is available on the Rep Stage website at www.repstage.org.
Michael Stebbins, producing artistic director of Rep Stage and director of "The Glass Menagerie," and actors Tamara Johnson (Amanda Wingfield),
Christine Demuth (Laura),
Karl Kippola (Tom) and Brandon McCoy (The Gentleman Caller) deserve a standing ovation for their willingness to alter their professional and personal commitments to accommodate the extended performance schedule. According to
Tim Smith's February 9 Baltimore Sun article on "the snow that ate the arts," Rep Stage may be one of the few local venues able to offer patrons additional performance dates.
"The Glass Menagerie" runs through March 14 in the
Studio Theatre of the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center (HVPA) on the campus of Howard Community College (HCC). In addition to the original schedule of Wednesday through Sunday performances through February 28, eleven shows have been added as follows:
Friday, March 5, 8 p.m.
Saturday, March 6, 8 p.m.
Sunday, March 7, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Wednesday, March 10, 7 p.m.
Thursday, March 11, 7 p.m.
Friday, March 12, 8 p.m.
Saturday, March 13, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Sunday, March 14, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The post-show reception originally scheduled for February 7 has been rescheduled to follow the Sunday, March 14 matinee performance. A free post-show discussion will follow the February 19 performance as scheduled. Also complementing "The Glass Menagerie" will be a pre-show lecture on February 20 at 12:30 p.m. Rep Stage's Reading Series will feature a play by
Tennessee Williams, "Eccentricities of a Nightingale" March 1 at 7 p.m. The Rep Stage Film Series will offer free movie screenings of Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire" on February 16 at 7 p.m. and February 27 at 10 a.m. All of these events are free.
