Rep Stage Announces Cast For SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET  ImageRep Stage, the professional regional theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), has announced casting for its first show of the upcoming season, "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." Set in modern-day East London, this production of the Tony Award-winning musical features an ensemble of eight in an intimate setting laced with brilliant wit, diabolical humor, and extraordinary music.

Cast members V. Savoy McIlwain ("Caroline or Change"/Round House) as Sweeney Todd and Jade Jones ("The Wiz"/Ford's Theatre) as Mrs. Lovett are making their Rep Stage debut. The production also features Nigel Reed ("The Other Place"/Rep Stage) as Judge Turpin, Justine Icy Moral (Ragtime/Ford's Theatre) as Beggar Woman/Pirelli, Benjamin Lurye ("My Fair Lady"/Olney Theatre) as The Beadle, Suzanne Lane ("On The Town"/Olney Theatre) as Johanna. Rounding out the cast are Noah Israel as Anthony and John Taos Foster as Tobias.

Rep Stage Producing Artistic Director Joseph W. Ritsch directs and choreographs this production, and Stacey Antoine musical directs. Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award-winning score features "The Worst Pies in London," "Pretty Women," "Not While I'm Around," and "Johanna."

"Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" opens September 6, 2018, with a limited run through September 23 in the Studio Theatre of the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center (HVPA) on the campus of HCC, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia, Maryland.
