Red Branch Theatre Company Presents INTO THE WOODS 3/25-4/9

Red Branch Theatre Company, the professional theatre company in residence at Drama Learning Center, is pleased to present their first show of the 2011 season. Into the Woods will run March 25-April 9. Tickets will go on sale February 15th.

This mixed-up musical is directed by Jenny Male, who most recently directed The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at RBTC.
 
A special Parents’ Night Out PJ Party performance will take place on Friday, April 1st. Only Act One (kid-friendly and a story in itself) will be performed for The children at the PJ Party event. Parents may drop off their kids from 7-11 pm. This is a great opportunity for parents to enjoy their own night out, while the Drama Learning Center staff entertains children with crafts and games, after they have watched the show. PJ party reservations must be made in advance by calling 410-997-9352.
 
About the Show
James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale features cockeyed characters such as an ambivalent Cinderella, a blood-thirsty Little Red Ridinghood, a Prince Charming with a roving eye, and a Witch who raps!
 
When a Baker and his Wife learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk). Consequences of actions become a prevalent theme. What begins a lively irreverent fantasy in the style of "The Princess Bride" becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.
