A Spell of Cold Weather will be presented by Red Branch Theatre Company, the adult theatre company in residence at Drama Learning Center, December 11-20, 2009. This magical play, a winner of the Writer's Guild Award for Best Children's Play, promises to be a holiday treat for the whole family!
In this play, Betty and Bob, two down-in-the-mouth farmers, have lost touch with each other, their animals and their own culture. In the time between Christmas and New Year, they get a surprise. Their little niece Holly needs to come and stay because her Mom is having an operation. When Holly arrives she feels very alone in a strange world with no friends. Things pick up however when she meets Tomos Trickman, a puck-like fairy. Together Holly and Tomos bring
The Farm back to spiritual health and the play ends with an unforgettable, magical, New Year's night party.
A Spell of Cold Weather is directed by Peter Boyer, with music direction by Dustin Merrell. The cast includes RBTC regulars
Kathryn Marshall and Sara Simpkins, as well as newcomers to RBTC's stage Dana Medford and Burt Tapper.
This production will also feature Parents' Night Out PJ Parties each Friday and Saturday from 7-11 pm. This is a great opportunity for parents to finish up last minute holiday shopping or wrapping, while the Drama Learning Center Staff entertains children with crafts and games, after they have watched a performance A Spell of Cold Weather.
