Red Branch Theatre Co. Holds Auditions for HANSEL & GRETEL, 9/18

Red Branch Theatre Company has announced auditions for their December production, HANSEL & GRETEL. The show will run December 9-12. This "fairy-tale opera" is the G. Schirmer opera score version of Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, and the piece will be entirely sung in English. Jennifer Spieler is the Director and Christopher Correlli is the Music Director.

Adults are asked to attend auditions September 18, 12-4pm and September 20, from 7:30pm-9:30pm. (Auditions will be scheduled in 5-minute increments)

Children are asked to attends auditions October 9, 10 am - 1pm. (Auditions will be scheduled in 5 minute increments).

To audition, please send an e-mail to redbranchtheatre@gmail.com with your preferred date.

Please bring a headshot and/or resume and prepared musical excerpt (about 1 minute in length) that displays vocal range. A classical piece is preferable, but not mandatory.

All roles are available.  They include:

Adult Roles:
Peter (H&G's father) - A broom-maker, Baritone
Gertrude (H&G's mother) - Peter's wife, Mezzo-Soprano
Hansel - Mezzo-Soprano
Gretel - Soprano
The Witch who eats children - Mezzo-Soprano, possible Tenor
Sandman (sleep fairy) - Soprano
Dewman (dawn fairy) - Soprano

Children's roles are choral - most specifically they become the gingerbread men come-to-life after the witch's spell is broken.

The auditions will be held at Drama Learning Center, 9130-I Red Branch Road, Columbia, MD 21045.
