The Olney Theatre Center has announced that they have been included on The Gazette of Politics and Business' P&B 53 list for 2011. The P&B 53 program acknowledges the top businesses and organizations in the state of Maryland based on criteria that include the company's annual revenue and employee growth, noteworthy product or service innovations, community service efforts, strategic insight executed through the economic downturn, while continuing to develop and provide employees with a nurturing and productive work environment.

Olney Theatre Center was recognized for its exceptional financial turnaround in the past three years. Olney Theatre Center's successful turnaround has come as a result of the reconstruction of its programming to maximize return on investment combined with state aid and an additional contributions and grants, which have benefited the company with an overall increase in revenue by $1.6 million. Olney Theatre Center was also recognized for its strong ties to the local community, with an enthusiastic outreach program to area schools and organizations, workshops and classes. Olney Theatre Center provides free and/or reduced cost tickets to introduce lower-income young people to the performing arts, as well as free Shakespeare outdoors every summer produced by America's longest running touring theatre company, National Players.

The fourth annual award ceremony was held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Doubletree in Bethesda, MD. The award ceremony, sponsored by RMR & Associates, CPR Multimedia Solutions and Rockville Printing & Graphics, included networking opportunities, dinner, speeches and the distribution of the awards.
Olney Theatre Center will be profiled in a special section as part of the Friday, October 21, 2011 edition of The Gazette of Politics and Business.
