Olney Theatre Center, a Maryland destination for professional theater performance and education, in conjunction with National Players, continues its critically-acclaimed 76th Anniversary season with The Tempest running July 15 - August 3, 2014 on the Root Family Stage.

Often considered Shakespeare's last play, The Tempest, the glorious comedy of magical creatures, love, and forgiveness on a faraway island, is sure to captivate in Olney Theatre Center's outdoor space, the Root Family Stage. In celebration of 66 consecutive years of National Players tours, Olney Theatre Center will be returning to an old format used in the past, in which National Players veterans compose half the cast of this professional show, mentoring current National Players who take the younger roles. The cast consists of members of the National Players' most recent tour, Tour 65, as well as members from past National Players tours.

"Having veteran National Players back to perform with new National Players is fantastic," said Jason King Jones, Director of The Tempest. "The opportunity to perform with professional actors and create great theatre is unparalleled. The experience gained by both the new and old members is something that will never be forgotten and that the audience will love to witness."

Mr. Jones is the Associate Director and Director of Education at Olney Theatre Center. He leads the creative team for The Tempest composed of Scenic Designer Charlie Calvert, Costume Designer Pei Lee, Sound Designer Elisheba Ittoop, Lighting Designer Sonya Dowahaluk, and Fight Choreographer Casey Kaleba. The cast is led by National Players alumnus and Helen Hayes nominee Craig Wallace as Prospero. Mr. Wallace has performed locally at Shakespeare Theatre Company, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, and Signature Theatre. He is joined by Julie-Ann Elliott as Ariel. Ms. Elliott has performed at the Kennedy Center, Round House Theatre, and Folger Theatre and can be seen on TV shows such as "Veep" and "The Wire." Rounding out the cast are Leah Filley, Alexander Korman, Ian LeValley, Ryan Mitchell, Paul Morella, Jacob Mundell, Christopher Richardson, Adam Turck, Dan Van Why and Alan Wade.
