Maryland Ensemble Theatre's Fun Company is ready to launch its brand new season of fun, adventure, and downright silliness. The Fun Company prides itself on producing quality family theater for children of all ages. Last season the Fun Company produced two original shows, one original adaptation, and took a turn at Commedia Del Art. The result was one of the most successful seasons the Fun Company has ever had. This season Julie Heber, director of the Fun Company, plans to follow the same formula. This season, the Fun Company will once again present two original shows, an original adaptation, and a piece of Commedia Theater.
The season will kick off on Sept 15th with the Fun Company's adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. This fun and exciting story of a little mongoose keeping his garden safe from two vicious cobras, has been adapted for the stage by Sarah Shulman, the author of last season's musical adventure The Young Olympians and the Most Amazingly Awesome Adventure Ever, and is directed by Julie Herber. The second show of the season will be Commedia Puss in Boots, also directed by Julie Herber and opening November 24. Following the success of last season's Commedia Pinocchio, Herber is reviving the cast of Pinocchio for another exciting adventure. MET company member Devin Gaither is making her writing debut with the third show of the season My Monster and Me, directed by MET company member and first-time director, Ashley Hall. This follows the adventures of a little boy as he learns to face his fears and will open in April of 2013. Fellow company member Matt Lee, author of My Littlest Vampire, will be capping the season off with his Indiana Jones parody Dakota Mckane and the Quest for the Golden Mole, directed by Sarah Shulman and opening in May of next year.
The Fun Company is proud to provide a fun and educational theater experience for children. When seeing a Fun Company show at the MET kids can enjoy face painting before the show and meet the cast after. The Fun Company is also proud to offer group rates and birthday party packages. All performances take place at Maryland Ensemble Theatre, located in the historic FSK Hotel in downtown Frederick at 31 W Patrick St.
The 2012-13 Fun Company season is made possible in part through the support of season sponsors PNC Bank and GTI Federal.
For over a decade, Maryland Ensemble Theatre has been producing thought-provoking theatre, fun family entertainment, artist residency programs for public schools, challenging classes and the side-splitting Comedy Pigs. The MET is an artistic leader in the region and at the forefront of the creation of Frederick's Theater District.
