Maryland Ensemble Theatre presents A CHRISTMAS STORY ImageMaryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) presents, as their 20th season's holiday production, a funny and heartfelt Christmas show based on the classic 1983 movie, A Christmas Story. Based on stories by legendary radio humorist Jean Shepherd, this show tells the tale of young Ralphie Parker, who wants only one thing for Christmas: an official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle.

Adapted for the stage by Philip Grecian, A Christmas Story features nine-year-old Ralphie Parker and his eccentric family in a slice-of-life story about a very eventful Christmas. Ralphie goes to great lengths to convince his parents that a Red Ryder BB gun is a completely appropriate Christmas gift. Though his mother warns, "You'll shoot your eye out!", Ralphie is determined to make this the best Christmas ever. "We are excited about bringing this show back to MET as it was such an audience favorite in our early years," says director Gené Fouché. The whole family will enjoy this hilarious, warm, and festive production. Under the helm of Fouché, the A Christmas Story team includes: scenic design by Matthew Vance, costume design by Cody Gilliam and Ken Poisson as sound designer; Carey Rausch is the productions lighting designer and Rachel Smith is props designer.

The presenting cast includes Kevin Cole as adult Ralphie Parker and Sawyer Makl as young Ralphie. The rest of the adults in the cast are played by MET Ensemble Members: Laura Stark (Mother), Tim Seltzer (The Old Man), and Lia Seltzer ((Miss) Shields). The Kids are played by Searlait Hoyt, Beau Scott, Natalia Alvarado, Grace Thomas, Daniel Puckett, Wilson Seltzer with understudies: Ysa Seltzer and Jackson Peters-Mosere.

A Christmas Story opens on Friday, December 1 and runs through December 23, every Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. with performances on Thursdays, December 14th and 21st and Sundays December 3, 10 and 17 at 3 p.m. Tickets continue under our special 20th Season Celebration pricing of $20. Tickets may be purchased by phone at (301) 694-4744, online at marylandensemble.org or in person at the MET box office.
