Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, The FUN Company presents their annual community collaboration with Frederick Community College and the youth of Frederick County with Young Camelot and the Fight for the Holy Grail by MET ensemble member Sarah Shulman. For generations, the sorcery students at Avalon Academy and the knights in training partook in a passionate rivalry while the ladies stood on the sidelines. All of that, however, is about to change. Sarah Shulman is a local playwright who wrote the recent MET collaborations Piper, Robin Hood, and The Young Olympians.
This family friendly show (with a cast and crew of over 80 including 60+ Frederick County youth from ages 7-17!) is bound to keep the whole family excited. Playwright Shulman shared, "I wanted this story to focus on the women of the Arthurian Legend. They are not bystanders; they are strong and active heroes who demand their seat at the round table". Shulman continued, "The most exciting part of writing this play, was having the chance to show so many of our young talent that you can decide on your own path, while still honoring other people's choices." Witness sword fights, magic, and more in this modern interpretation of the Arthurian Legend.
Maryland Ensemble Theatre's FUN Company seeks to provide high quality, affordable theatre for the whole family that is both educational and entertaining. They present a yearly Family Theatre Series, an In-School Productions outreach program and FUN Camp.
