Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is proud to present Lies!: The Low-Brow, Po-Mo Basement Show by Lydia Hadfield. This production marks the world premiere of the satirical storytelling show. What's it all about? A familiar stranger comes to town with a story to tell, though, it may not be the story she thought she was telling...Showbiz braggary! Salty sea tales! Sexcapades! Come for the truth of theatre...and stay for the lies.
The show was developed in part through METLab's Plays in Progress New Play Festival in July 2015 as a Coffeehouse Reading. This time, actor and playwright Lydia Hadfield is joined by a MET Company member and comedy variety show host of The Last Hurrah, Kevin Cole, at the helm as director. Lies! co-stars Hood College's own Amber George, features the light & sound design of Robert Martin, and boasts choreography by Rachel Wolfe.
Lies! will be presented as part of MET-X: special programming created outside of MET's Mainstage season and often self-produced by the MET's own company members to expand the collective horizons of both the ensemble and its audience. Lies! will run every Friday and Saturday from November 6 - 14 at 8pm at MET, located in the historic FSK Hotel at 31 W Patrick Street in downtown Frederick, MD. Tickets to Lies! are $10 and can be purchased at 301-694-4744, marylandensemble.org or in person at the Maryland Ensemble Theatre box office.
