Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) begins its 2015/16 MET-X summer season with "Carrie: the Musical", based on the novel by Stephen King, music by Michael Gore, lyrics by Dean Pitchford, book by Lawrence D. Cohen-running June 23rd to July 2nd at 31 West Patrick Street in Frederick, MD.

Carrie White is a misfit. At school, she's an outcast who's bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she's at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie's just discovered she's got a special power, and if pushed too far, she's not afraid to use it...

Produced by future arts leaders and Frederic area high school students and directed by MET Company Member, Caitlyn Joy. Caitlyn's vision creates an eerie atmosphere, with the help of choreographer, Lena Janes (Governor Thomas Johnson High School - GTJHS), set designer, Celia Lee, and costume designer, Sophie Stratyner. Carrie: the Musical features MET company member Matt Lee, along with Julia Becker and MET associate Karen Heyser-Paone. This production also features talented high schoolers from Frederick city and college and college students from Frederick and Montgomery County. The title character is played by Caroline Coleman of Urbana High School, who says, "I am enjoying working at Maryland Ensemble Theatre in Carrie, the Musical. It is fun getting to know other very talented teens from the Frederick area that are also in the cast." The cast also includes Tommy Masser (Frederick Community College), Tuyet Gunter (Blair High School), Maxwell Lamb (Middletown High School), Drew Canning (GTJHS), Lena Janes (GTJHS), Andrew Zabetakis (GTJHS), Morgan Southwell (Urbana High School), Elise Fenstermacher (Linganore High School), Johnny Alderman (Oakdale High School) and Edward Stockman (Oakdale High School).
