Maryland Ensemble Theatre Hosts Seventh Annual Retro Prom, 3/12

Maryland Ensemble Theatre, an artistic leader in the region and at the forefront of the creation of Frederick's Theater District, presents the 7th annual Retro Prom on March 12, 2011 at 7pm at the William R. Talley Recreation Center located at 121 North Bentz Street, Frederick, MD, 21701.

'Pretty in Pink' meets 'Grease' at the annual Retro Prom, where attendees are encouraged to dress up in "prom attire" from any decade so disco queens, flower children and Madonna wannabes rub elbows with flappers and greasers. And if your zoot suit or bell bottoms don't win you the best dressed honor you can still pick up a prize with your Footloose moves in the dance-off with music from our DJ, The Spin Doctor! There are also door prizes and of course the coronation of Prom King & Queen.

The doors and the cash bar open at 7pm and dinner, which is included in the price of admission, will be served from 7-8:30pm. Also included with admission are 2 drink tickets for the bar and desert which will be served from 8:30-11pm. Individual tickets are $45 at the door or you can save when you get tickets early. Advance tickets are $40 or get two tickets in advance for only $70 and save $20 off the at door cost of two tickets.

There will also be a booth available for prom photos and a silent auction with items ranging from beach house vacations to spa treatments. All proceeds go to benefit a good cause, the Maryland Ensemble Theatre, but the Retro Prom is really more of a great big party than anything else. The Retro Prom is a great chance to kick off your Sunday shoes, put on your powder blue tux, cut loose and enjoy the celebration.

The event is organized by a committee of Maryland Ensemble Theatre's board members chaired by Jim Hochadel and including Jane Dallimore, Kelly Trigger and Tina Lee.
