MET's Fun Company to Open Season with STELLALUNA

Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre The Fun Company will present, "Stellaluna", the first show of its 2014-2015 season. "Stellaluna" is a stage adaptation of the popular children's book of the same name by Jannell Cannon and is adapted for the stage by playwright Saskia Janse and composer Guus Ponsioen. The show which opens September 27 will be directed by the Fun Company's Artistic Director, Julie Herber. "Stellaluna" is an inventive adaptation of the delightful tale that incorporates song, dance, puppetry and ASL. "Stellaluna" and the whole Fun Company season will be performed in a new performance venue at MET that will that will create an even more inviting and interactive experience for young theatergoers.

"Stellaluna" is the tender story of a lost young bat who finally finds her way safely home to her mother and friends. This award-winning book by Janell Cannon has sold over 500,000 copies and was on the bestseller list for more than two years.

Julie Herber will direct a talented cast that includes Connor Cochran (The Piano Player), Laura Stark (The Puppeteer), Katie Tyler (The Puppeteer), Melissa Gregory (The Tap Dancer),and Anna Wood (The Interpreter). Herber is also designing the costumes and puppets, Joanne Lee is designing the set and Jordan Stocksdale is serving as Musical Director.

The Fun Company is proud to provide a fun and educational theater experience for children. When seeing a Fun Company show at the MET kids can enjoy activities such as face painting before the show and meet the cast after. Tickets are just $12 (plus a $1.50 service fee) or just $50 for a Season Subscription. The Fun Company also offers group rates and birthday party packages.
