Mythological mayhem is returning to Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) this May when the award winning fun-filled family musical for all ages, "The Young Olympians and the Most Amazingly Awesome Adventure Ever", takes to the stage for one weekend only. Olympians will play at MET, located at 31 W Patrick in downtown Frederick, this weekend, May 30 and 31 at 3:30pm.
The play tells the story of Perseus, Jason, Hercules, and Andromeda when they are heroes in training at Homer's School of Heroism. When the Gods of Mt. Olympus suddenly develop amnesia it is up to these four young friends to go on an epic quest to save the day and along the way learn what it really means to be a hero. "Young Olympians", written by MET company member Sarah Shulman, received its World Premiere at MET back in 2012. In 2013 the show was accepted in The Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC and the New York International Fringe Festival. Following a successful fundraising campaign on the crowd-funding site Indiegogo and a two week remount at MET the show traveled to DC and New York where it was so well received that it won an "Overall Excellence Award". An independent panel of over 40 theater professionals selected the winners from among the festival's 185 entrants. "You can imagine, we were just thrilled to hear that the organization selected us as one of the best ensembles of the Festival," said Julie Herber, the show's director.Videos
