Remember when you were younger and optimism ruled your world. You were fearless, unafraid to try new things, because well, everything was new. Limitations were unthought-of. You floated in optimism. You were secure even in uncertainty. Then SOMETHING happened. Did you have to change to survive? What did you change? What did you hold on to? Why did you hold on to it? And how does it serve you now? This is OURstory.

"MAKE HERstory: A Work in Progress," the one woman show written and performed by Alisa L. Brock, Directed by Kevin Jiggetts, and accompanied by Djembe player Menes Yahudah is the story of Maggie. A courageous, highly sensitive and optimistic 7 year old self made child artist who uses her imagination to survive abandonment and abuse in her household. It is also the story of her adult self Margret, a 29 year old out of work actress and writer (with an Imagination that is still well at work on and off stage) who is currently embarking on a journey of self acceptance and self love. As Maggie and Margret tag team in telling you HERstory we are introduced to a variety of characters that activate and strengthen her human resilience. It is a tale of perpetuating abuse, freedom, forgiveness and the growth of "the black sheep heroine." It is reality's laughter, a GUMBO of true stories that never had the chance to be told - until now.
