For the first time in 3 seasons, a theatre subsription series has been announced for the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore. The varied season line up is:
- Casablanca (Oct 24-29). Directed and choreographed by John Clifford, this stage version of the 1942 Michael Curtiz movie made its debut last spring in Beijing.
- On Golder Pond (Nov. 21-26). Richard Chamberlain plays a contankerous retired professor and Hayley Mills his patient wife in Ernest Thompson's domestic drama. The show is the touring version of director Leonard Foglia's 2005 Broadway revival, which starred James Earl Jones and Leslie Uggams and played a pre-Broadway run at Washington's Kennedy Center.
- Aida (Dec. 26-31). Elton John and Tim Rice's pop opera about a love triangle in ancient Eygpt .
- Cabaret (Feb. 27-March 4). The 1998 Tony Award-winning revival of John Kander and Freb Ebb's musical has played Baltimore before, but this time, some patrons will be seated at cabaret tables.
- I Can't Stop Loving You (April 10-15). A tribute to the late Ray Charles, this musical revue opened in London last summer as The Genius of Ray Charles.
Jesus Christ Superstar returns as a subscriber option, May 18-20, with Ted Neeley reprising the title role.
