Loch Raven High School is pleased to announce its annual spring musical Rodger and Hammerstein's Cinderella to be performed March 5, 6, and 7 at 7:30 PM. Directed by Ms. Erin E. Confair, Cinderella will be performed in the school's auditorium. The production has been a huge undertaking for this year's talented cast of students ranging from 14-18 years old. "This is the best show we have put on at Loch Raven for several years," describes senior Tim Hamel (Prince Charming). This diverse cast of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors has been dedicated to bringing this classic fairy tale to life.

Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella is a musical that has been written for television, with music by Richard Rodgers and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. It is based upon the fairy tale Cinderella, particularly Cendrillon, ou la Petite Pantoufle de Vair, by Charles Perrault. The story concerns a young woman forced into a life of servitude by her cruel stepmother and self-centered stepsisters, who dreams of a better life. With the help of her Fairy Godmother, Cinderella is transformed into a Princess and finds her Prince. Director Erin E. Confair comments, "The students at Loch Raven High School have brought this beloved and timeless fairy tale to life. With their hard work, dedication, and tireless effort, they have proved, yet again, that when you believe in yourself, impossible things can happen."

"My experience with Cinderella has been absolutely thrilling." says sophomore Laura Bacharach (Stepsister/Joy). "I went across lines I didn't know I could cross, like coming out of my shell and playing a type of character I never had a chance to play." "Seeing everything come together with the singing, acting, and dancing has been my favorite part," states senior Kaitlyn Merrill (Cinderella), "We have learned to trust each other as castmates which has helped us all form strong bonds and life-long friends."

The audience can look forward to many exciting moments on stage thanks to the beautiful choreography of Mr. Joseph M. Frollo in "Waltz for A Ball," "The Gavotte," and "Your Majesties." The audience will also be enticed by the classic songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Included in these numbers are "The Prince is Giving A Ball," "In My Own Little Corner," "Impossible," "Ten Minutes Ago," "The Stepsister's Lament," and "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?" under the musical direction of Mr. Kevin King, Mr. Ed Goldstein, and Ms. Erica Confair. Senior Lauren Wiklund (Stepmother) states, "I am most looking forward to the adrenaline rush of opening night. The laughter of the first night's audience is a refreshing release of energy to what we've been working on for so many weeks."
The cast and crew of Loch Raven High School's Cinderella look forward to seeing you on March 5, 6, and 7 at 7:30 PM where "impossible things are happening everyday."
