Spotlighters Theatre has announced that JEKYLL & HYDE by Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse will open Friday, January 9, 2015 at 8pm.
Jekyll & Hyde - an epic battle of good & evil, of passion and propriety! An evocative tale of the epic battle between good and evil: JEKYLL & HYDE. Convinced the cure for his father's mental illness lies in the separation of Man's evil nature from his good, Jekyll unwittingly unleashes his own dark side, wreaking havoc in the streets of London as the savage, maniacal Edward Hyde.
This amazing and bold show, presented in Spotlighters' intimate theatre in the round, promises to be a moving and daring experience for the audience. With set by Alan Zemla, costume by Laura Nicholson, and lighting by Allison Ramer - the audience will be swept into London society of the 1888, with a few side trips to the seedier parts of town!
Spotlighters welcomes Ryan Wagner, making his Spotlighters' debut, as Dr. Henry Jekyll. Ryan's amazing voice and presence will entrance the audience, much like Mr. Hyde does dear Lucy.
Another debut performance in the role of Lucy Harris, is Renata Hammond, with a voice that is as rich as chocolate and as smooth as silk. Renata will pluck your heart strings as the prostitute with a heart of gold, and a dream of a new life outside of the Red Rat.
Patricia Hengen returns to Spotlighters, as Emma Carew. She was last seen here in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, as one of the step-sisters. A graduate of Baltimore School for the Arts, and Shenandoah Conservatory, Patricia's voice fills the theatre with Emma's passion and her love for Dr. Jekyll. Her clear tones ring of society, but also a woman that knows her mind and her will.
Rounding out the rest of the 20 person cast, are many recent performers at Spotlighters, but also several new faces! Brian S Kraszewski as John Utterson; Jim Baxter as Sir Danvers Carew; Jeffrey Coleman as Simon Stride; Brian Douglas as Lord Savage; Christina Holmes as Lady Beaconsfield; Geo Wilkerson as Sir Archibald Proops; Dave Guy as General Lord Glossop; Michael Blum as Bishop of Basingstoke; with Lisa Rigsby as Nellie; Parker Bailey Steven as Spider; Christopher Anakyn Burns as Poole; and Eliyahu Kheel, Meryem Ahmadian, Autumn Boyle, Darlene Harris, Amy Luchey, Will Meister, and Morgan Marie Woodle.
