Imagination Stage's Acting Conservatory will perform Twelfth Night, by William Shakespeare, April 27-29, 2018 in the Christopher and Dana Reeve Studio Theatre. Twelfth Night puts a uniquely modern and youthful twist on Shakespeare's classic tale of mistaken identities.
Twelfth Night runs in Imagination Stage's Reeve Studio Theatre April 27-28, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. and April 29, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 per person, and may be purchased online at www.imaginationstage.org, at the Imagination Stage box office, or via phone at 301?280?1660.
Director Randy Baker has set the scene in present day Bethesda, MD. The parents are out of town and these Shakespearian characters turned privileged teens are determined to throw the biggest party of the year. The festivity is in full swing when a yacht sinks off the coast, and a survivor from the wreck arrives to change everything. This concept enhances the themes of bullying, self-doubt, and awkward first love that are inherent in the script, thereby shedding a far more current, 2018 worldview on this classic play. Baker comes to us from the esteemed DC-based theatre company Rorschach. The cast is comprised of high school performers within Imagination Stage's Acting Conservatory program, headed up by Associate Director of Education, Nikki Kaplan.
The Acting Conservatory is an intensive two-year acting technique training opportunity for students entering grades 7-10 (completing the program as 8-11 graders). Their final semester is spent applying their acquired skills towards rehearsing and performing a fully supported production in the Reeve Studio Theatre with a guest team of directors and designers from the professional theatre community of Washington, DC.
Directed by Randy Baker, Twelfth Night is designed by a team of professional designers and artists, including Danielle Harris (Scenic Designer), Celestine Ranney-Howes (Costume Designer), Kris Thompson (Lighting Designer), Sara O'Halloran (Sound Designer), and Alan Gonzalez-Bisnes (Stage Manager, Props Coordinator).
