The Howard County Arts Council is very pleased to announce that it has met its sponsorship goal for the annual Celebration of the Arts and 30th Anniversary of the Howard County Arts Council!
Each year, the Celebration includes the Rising Star Competition which showcases ten young performing artists vying for a no-strings-attached professional development award. This year, in honor of the Arts Council's 30th Anniversary and because of the support of an anonymous donor, the Arts Council will be able to give out three awards to support emerging performing artists: $1,000, $2,500 & $5,000!
Howard County's signature event, the Celebration of the Arts in Howard County gala, will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at its new location, The Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College.
Come Celebrate with us! The evening will begin at 6:00pm with a reception and silent auction of artwork in various media and styles by Howard County artists. During the reception, partygoers will enjoy performances in the Great Hall and Monteabaro Recital Hall, and will be treated to an array of delicacies from distinctive local restaurants and caterers.
At 8pm, partygoers will enjoy the Main Stage program including the presentation of the 2010 Howie Awards and performances from the finalists of the Rising Star Performing Artist Competition. The Celebration audience will cast its vote to determine Howard County's next Rising Star!
Tickets will be available for purchase in January 2011. For more information, visit us online at www.hocoarts.org or call 410-313-ARTS(2787).
