Resident artists and art organizations will open their studios to the public from 6p.m.-8:30p.m. It's festive, fun and free!

Be a pART of ART! Support the arts and help u s launch Howard County 's next Rising Star at the Celebration of th e Arts gala. The event is our main fund and friend-raising event featuring a silent auction with artwork from local artists, the Rising Star competiti on, the presentation of the Howie Awards, and the return of Dick Story, CEO of the Howard County Economic Development Authority, as the emcee of the Main Stage event. Also, we are pleased to announce that Richard B. Talkin, prominent local lawyer and avid art collector , will serve as Honorary Chair of the 13th annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County . Last year, Talkin was also in the spotlight on the Celebration stage where he accepted the Arts Council's Howie Award for Outstanding B usiness Supporter of the Arts. The Celebration , presented by the Arts Council, will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 6:00p.m. - 10:00p.m. at The Jim Rouse Theatre for the Performing Arts in Columbia . Be sure to save the date for one of Howard County 's signature events!

Are you a Howard County artist looking to gain exposure and help sup port the arts? We are seeking visual artists and artisans working in all styles a nd mediums to participate in the Silent Auction Benefit Art Exhibit. This exhibit is part of the Arts Council's annual fundraising gala, the Celebration of the Arts . All Howard County 2-D, 3-D, and fine craft artists, 18 years or older, are invited to submit for jurying . More information and applications can be found online by clicking here . GET RID OF THOSE WINTER BLUES, JOIN US FOR THE HOWARD COUNTY TOURISM PARTNER MIXER AND RECEPTION FOR TWO NEW EXHIBITS
Reception: January 29, 2010, 6-8 p.m., HCAC
Mix and mingle with colleagues and meet local artists in a fun relaxed atmosphere. The Arts Council is hosting a special reception fo r Tourism Partners to celebrate Tourism and the arts. Guests will be asked to select a People's Choice Award by voting on their favorite work from the exhibits and participate in a drawing for two tickets to the Celebration of the Arts gala held in April. The evening's festivities will include live entertainment and a wine and cheese reception.
Gallery I: The Third Perspective: Korean-American Artists' Daring Gazes
Artists from the Han-mee Artist Association of Greater Washington D.C. exploring the unique perspective of Korean Americans in the United States . The exhibit is curated by Ock-Kyung Lee, Professor Emeritus of Towson University and Harriet McNamee, Former Curator of Education, National Museum of Women in the Arts.
Gallery II: Howard County Portrait Society: Face to Face
Juried show of work by the artists in the Howard County Portrait Society who attend Portrait Sessions at the Howard County Arts Council. The Guest Juror for this exhibit is artist, Duane Lutsko.
