On Thursday, June 16th, 2011, the Howard County Arts Council will host its third annual Open Mic Night in the black box theatre of the Howard County Center for the Arts beginning at 6:30 pm. Open Mic Night will be in conjunction with the free exhibit reception for their Resident Visual Artists 2011 and Coded exhibits.
Hosting the evening will be Damon Foreman, jazz musician, teacher, and owner of Damon Foreman Music Academy. Artists can perform in any performance discipline suitable for an audience of all ages. All performances will last no longer than three minutes. Stage time can be reserved by contacting the
Arts Council at 410-313-ARTS (2787) or by emailing Deputy Director, Kimberly Jensen at deputydirector@hocoarts.org with the performer's name, resume and headshot if available, a brief description of the act and the approximate length of act. Performers can also sign-up at the door, time permitting.
The exhibit reception, from 6-8 p.m. will feature Resident Visual Artists 2011 exhibit in Gallery I, featuring works from HCAC's 14 resident artists and Coded, in Gallery II, with ceramic work by Shalya Marsh and Lars Westby. Light refreshments will be served.
The exhibits opened May 7, 2010 and will run through June 24, 2011. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., and Sunday 12 - 4 p.m. For more information about Howard County
