About the play: Nominated for both a Drama Desk and a Tony when it was first produced, this remarkable script by playwright Tina Howe has a keen sense of fluidity. An ensemble of vacationers, from ages 8 to 60+, experience the tailwinds of a New England summer on a private beach; the path of two meandering lovers, Leo Hart and Holly Dancer, collides among the other vacationers -- a recent divorcee and her difficult child, her college roommate and adopted daughter, and Hamilton and MJ Adams, whose marital seas are still choppy despite many children and decades of (relative) commitment. Part romance, part comedy, all very unique in tone, we witness the ebb and flow of the vacationers stories in this challenging but rewarding play.
