Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, The FUN Company is bringing to the black box the world's smallest detective to solve the biggest mind-boggling mystery of all time. Welcome Milo the Mouse to the stage in the world premiere of The Magnificent Mouse Detective Agency. Milo and his furry friends need kids' help to solve the case.
This world premiere is bound to please everyone in the family: an action-packed adventure-comedy with a Who Framed Roger Rabbit feel. Local writer and author of this new piece, Matt Lee, shared his thoughts on the production. "The Magnificent Mouse Detective Agency is a product of my love of film noir and hardboiled detective fiction, but equally so from my deep respect for cartoons and slapstick comedy. I wanted to write a show that wouldn't take itself too seriously and allow the actors to have fun. I think kids will love the many different characters and the fast-paced action, plus being able to directly participate in solving the mystery."
Fun Company Artistic Director Julie Herber will direct the show. Herber will lead the creative acting team of Callan Holderbaum as Milo the Mouse and the ensemble team of Sean Byrne, Steve Custer, Jennifer Pagano, and Katie Rattigan. Herber will be assisted by Sarah Shulman as Stage Manager and a design team that includes Steve Knapp (lights), recent Peter and the Starcatcher Set Designer Cecelia Lee (set), Cody Gilliam designing the costumes, Lauren Johnson on sound design and Stephanie Hyder (props). All performances are at Maryland Ensemble Theatre, located in the historic FSK Hotel at 31 W Patrick Street. The show runs every Saturday and Sunday from May 20th through June 18th at 1:30pm. Tickets are $12, and may be purchased by phone at (301) 694-4744, online at marylandensemble.org or in person at the MET box office.
