Favorite Everyman Theatre Company Member, Vivienne Shub, and Director of Development Cathy Wagner received honors from Towson University during commencement exercises at the end of the Spring 2012 semester. Ms. Wagner and Ms. Shub were presented with awards celebrating their dedication to theatre. Resident Company Member Vivienne Shub was honored with an honorary degree during the University's Graduation Ceremony today, May 25th. She was given an Honorary Bachelor of Arts. Now in her sixth decade as a professional actor, Ms. Shub has been celebrated as one of the region's most respected performing artists. She taught part-time at Towson for more than 20 years.

"My deepest thanks go first to Dr. Maravene Loeschke, the new President of Towson University, and Professor Jay Herzog of the Theatre Department for making this overwhelming honor and tribute possible," said Ms. Shub. "And secondly, I thank Everyman Theatre and its Artistic Director, the remarkable Vincent Lancisi, for giving me the opportunity to round out my 75 years in the theatre by spending the wondrous last 20 years of them on stage at Everyman."

Ms. Shub last appeared on the Everyman stage in 2008 in Viva La Vivienne!, written by her sister, Naomi Greenberg-Slovin. She also appeared as a Resident Company Member in productions such as Much Ado About Nothing, Uncle Vanya, Hedda Gabler, The Trip to Bountiful, Buried Child, The Crucible, and many others at Everyman. Ms. Shub was an original company member at Centerstage and performed there for over 20 years. She has worked at many other theatres in Baltimore, New York, Philadelphia, Providence, and Washington, DC. She was nominated for a Helen Hayes Award for her work as Grandma in Edward Albee's American Dream at Olney Theater Center.

Cathy Wagner, Director of Development at Everyman Theatre, received the 2012 Outstanding Alumni Award from the Theater Department, along with her husband, Chris Pfingsten, General Manager of Theatre Project. The award, which recognizes Ms. Wagner's career in theatre, was presented at the department's Senior Ceremony on May 11th.

"Chris and I are so honored to be recognized by Towson University," commented Ms. Wagner. "It means so much to work alongside many other Towson graduates and faculty at Everyman, and in the theatre community as a whole. That is a testament to the quality of the Towson's Theatre Department."

Prior to joining Everyman in 2011, Ms. Wagner served as Development Director at Orlando Repertory Theatre, a professional theatre for young audiences. She has also served as the Executive Director of Orlando Theatre Project. Ms. Wagner received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Towson University.
