One of America's most beloved movies from the 1980's makes it way to the stage, celebrating the common working man...or women in this case. Dundalk Community Theatre premieres Dolly Parton's record breaking Drama Desk Award nominee 9 TO 5: The Musical; running 6 performances only, from tonight, Oct 24 to Nov 3. Individual tickets are $23 for adults, $20 for senior adults and $15 for students/DCT Actors/Children 12 and under. Season subscription tickets are still available and include the upcoming productions of "Driving Miss Daisy" and "La Cage aux Folles".

9 to 5 tells the story of three secretaries (remember this is 1979, before admin assistants) who become feed up with their boss Franklin Hart. Hart embodies all the qualities a working woman would prefer to avoid...a bigot, a hypocrite, a letch, a sexist, and the list goes on. After one to many of his shenanigans, the women turn the tables on him to teach him a lesson. Things go horribly wrong in a comical way.

The musical was adapted from the film which stared Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dabney Coleman. The show opened on Broadway in 2009. It received four Tony Award nominations, 15 Drama Desk Awards, and a Grammy nomination for the original Broadway cast recording. The show also featured Andy Karl, who grew up in Baltimore and has been featured in many Broadway shows over the past decade.

The cast is complete with some of the best local talent around and maybe we will see one of them on Broadway in the near future. Cast members include: Principal - Violet - Nancy Asendorf, Doralee - Carli Smith, Judy - Brenda Tackett, Roz - Allie Dreskin, Franklin Hart - John O'Brien, Dwayne - Henry Reisinger, Jr., Joe - Russell Gartner, Tinsworthy - Dave Guy, Dick - John Machovech, Missy - Deborah Desmone, Josh - Gino Cardoni, Ensemble - Laura May, Kelsey Luchey, Lacy Schmidt, Amanda Dickson, Libby Burgess, Zoe Feldman, Erica Garfield, Amy Sacks, Alice Scanlon, Albert Boeren, Michael Maistros, Timoth Copney, Tyrell Stanley, Seth Saunders, Jim Morgan

Show times are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday - Oct 24 - Nov 3 in the John E. Ravekes Theatre, K Building. For tickets and information, call 443-840-2787.
