Altar Boyz is a high-energy, family friendly, hip-hop musical comedy about a fictitious Christian boy-band on the last night of their national "Raise the Praise" tour. The Boyz -- Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham are five super-talented singer/dancers who want to reach out to the youth of today in an art form they understand-pop musical funk. The show features tight harmonies and a whole lot of fun choreography. As the show progresses the Boyz question their loyalty to each other and ask whether or not faith is really holding them together. They finally deliver a message of unity, that "there is no star as bright as its constellation, no harmony in a single voice."

Altar Boys debuted September 2004 at the NY Musical Theatre Festival. After rave reviews it moved to Off Broadway in March 2005. Baltimore native Andy Karl originated the role of Luke and played in both productions. The show was winner of the 2005 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical and 2006/7 Broadway.com Audience Favorite Award. The show closed in January after running 5 years and has had number National and International productions.

Director Mark Briner, Musical Director Tiffany Underwood and Choreographer Becca Vourvoulas put together a high energy show featuring: Ron Giddings (Matthew - of Arnold, MD), Joey Frollo (Mark - of Cockeysville), Drew Gaver (Luke - of Baltimore City), Chris Jehnert (Juan - of Glen Rock, MD) and Chris Rudy (Abraham - of Hampstead). As always, Marc Smith designs a matching Set, Lights and Sound.
