Drama Learning Center announced today that construction has been officially completed on Suite H, adjacent to the educational theatre's existing facility. The recently finalized space includes a new private lesson studio, classroom, scene shop, and offices. The additional suite increases DLC's physical plant by 3300 square feet. "We outgrew our current space quite some time ago, and have been on the hunt for the best solution to that problem," says DLC's owner and Artistic Director, Stephanie Lynn Williams. "We have gotten very creative with facility use over the years, but when the space next door became available, I immediately saw how this could be the answer to our needs." The expansion comes in year 9 of business ownership for Williams, and will afford DLC the opportunity serve more students while continuing to provide Howard County with a mid-sized venue for rentals, recitals, corporate events, and more.

DLC staff will unveil the annex to the public with a ribbon-cutting and open house on Saturday, March 21st. Facility tours, interactive performance activities, face painting, and Princess appearances will take place from 10 AM to 3 PM. Red Branch Theatre Company, the professional theatre in residence at Drama Learning Center, will host a cabaret night later that evening.

Drama Learning Center has served area students aged 3-18 for nearly 30 years, providing quality theatrical education both at its Red Branch Road facility and in area after school programs. Founded in October 1985 by former Howard County Public School administrator Sonny Lerner, DLC offers a variety of programs that appeal to people of different ages and interests. Young children are introduced to the performing arts in preschool and beginning acting classes. Elementary, middle and high school students learn and improve their drama skills as they participate in musical and dramatic productions, while older students who are ready to make a larger commitment have the opportunity to participate in several audition-only opportunities. Classes and private lessons are available for students of all ages.
