In preparation for the launch of their second season, Cohesion Theatre Company, recently named Best New Theater in City Paper's Best of Baltimore 2015 Issue, is doubling their core staff to help expand their mission of community engagement and partnership.

Caitlin Carbone will join Cohesion in the newly created role of Director of Artistic and Community Engagement alongside Cassandra Dutt who joins Cohesion as the new Director of Public Relations and Social Engagement. All appointments are effective immediately and will work alongside Artistic Producers, Alice Stanley and Brad Norris.

As Director of Artistic and Community Engagement, Carbone will be growing and stewarding Cohesion's mission of collaboration and cooperation with members of the artistic and theater communities, as well as exploring opportunities to expand the educational offerings and community engagement with Cohesion's work in Baltimore. Caitlin joins Cohesion Theatre Company after previous work as an actor, director, and theater educator with Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, Baltimore Shakespeare Factory, and Spotlighter's Theatre and holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, where she focused on Shakespeare Studies and performed improv with Coalition Theatre.

"Season 2 is packed with events and productions and each one presents an opportunity to partner with a local organization, connect the community, and open an otherwise closed conversation" said Carbone. "This is the work that Cohesion has committed itself to doing, and I am so pumped about coming on board. Just as our work affects Baltimore, I envision a season that invites Baltimore to affect our work."

As Director of Public Relations and Social Engagement, Dutt will be increasing public awareness and conversation about the work on Cohesion's stages, while also engaging media partners and community and non-profit organizations in discussion about the lasting social impact of Cohesion's programs and performances. Cassandra joins Cohesion Theatre Company after previous work with Fells Point Corner Theater, Spotlighter's Theater, Charm City Players, and her current work as a structural engineer with the McLaren Engineering Group. Cassandra graduated with an integrated degree in Architecture, Theater, and Structural Engineering from Lehigh University, where she was the president of the Mustard and Cheese Drama Society (the second oldest Drama Society in the nation).

"I truly believe that theatre should be fearless and at Cohesion Theatre Company, it is," said Dutt. "There seems to be no boundary or limit on their stage; no issue or idea is too big, too small, or too uncomfortable. I am honored and thrilled and terrified (in a wonderful way) to be joining Brad, Alice, and Caitlin on this adventure. Cohesion's stage is constantly creating an open dialogue with actors and artists and audiences all across Baltimore and I cannot wait to see where the conversation goes next."

"I am so excited that Caitlin and Cassandra have joined Alice and I our work to continue expanding Cohesion's artistic vision," said Artistic Producer, Brad Norris. "Their passion for theater and desire to be fully invested in the community of artists and audiences in Baltimore makes me thrilled to work alongside them to build this company into a model for community and artistic engagement in the years to come."

Cohesion Theatre Company's second season includes four main stage productions, and the Trans* Voices Workshop Series, a season-long workshop series developing and exploring the work of Trans* individuals. Cohesion will be working closely with new and emerging playwrights on world premiere works, and expanding its collaborative mission by working in partnership with local companies like Iron Crow Theatre and Baltimore Shakespeare Factory.
