Children's Playhouse of Maryland's Young Adult Series to Present THE ADDAMS FAMILY, 5/7-22

Children's Playhouse of Maryland, Inc. (CPM), in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, goes for laughs with the musical comedy, The Addams Family in its Young Adult Series. Performances will be held on the weekends of May 7-8, 14-15 and 21-22 at 1 p.m. with one 7 p.m. show on May 14. The May 15 performance will be sign language interpreted by students of the CCBC Catonsville American Sign Language Certification program. All performances will be held in the Administration Building Lecture Hall at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. in Rosedale. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS or online at www.cpmarts.org. Tickets will also be available at the door, space permitting. Advanced purchase is highly recommended. Group tickets are also available.

The Addams Family, a family of ghouls with an interest in all things macabre, gather in the graveyard with all members living and dead. The Ancestors leave their graves to celebrate what it means to be an Addams. Uncle Fester asks for their help as the Addams' daughter, Wednesday, has invited her new "normal" boyfriend Lucas and his parents to dinner. The family is upset because Wednesday is changing and becoming "normal" before their eyes. When the guests arrive things are awkward from the start. Pugsley tries to help with a magic potion. Things go downhill from there.

This musical comedy, with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, is based on the cartoons of Charles Addams rather than the television or movie version. The CPM production features 24 student actors from Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Harford County. Liz Boyer Hunnicutt directs, with musical direction by Chris Rose and choreography by Amanda Dickson.

Featured actors in lead roles are: Nathan Beyer of Fallston, Md. appears as Gomez Addams, and Rachel Miller of Baltimore, Md. as his wife, Morticia. Kelsey Feeney of Bel Air, Md. portrays Wednesday Addams and Dylan Morrison of Perry Hall, Md. is her brother Pugsley. Will Foohey of Pikesville, Md. is cast as Uncle Fester, Ava Correlli of Middle River, Md., as Grandma Addams and Alex DeWald as Lurch. Other featured players are Olivia Lang (Alice Beineke) of Bel Air, Md., Matt Byrd of Halethorpe, Md., as Mal Beineke, Kevin Franiak of Nottingham, Md. as Lucas Beineke.

Numerous Addams' "ancestors" are portrayed by: Valerie Ziegler of Abingdon, Md., Julia Egan and Eva Hellerbach of Baltimore, Md., Olivia Winter of Cockeysville, Md., Jared Davis of Gwynn Oak, Md., Josh Robinson of Jarrettsville, Md., Emma Hester of Nottingham, Md., Allison Mudd, Allison Naglieri, Dorian Smith, and Catie Zimmer of Parkville, Md., Olivia Aubele of Perry Hall, Md., Angela Boeren of Rosedale and Sam Patterson of Towson, Md.
