The Children's Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, is stepping into new territory with a non-musical murder mystery, "The Mousetrap." Written by renowned British mystery author Agatha Christie, this production features a cast of eight student actors from Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Liz Boyer Hunnicutt directs.

The play will be performed 1 p.m., Oct. 29, 30 and Nov. 5, 6, 2011 in the J Building Lecture Hall, CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. Tickets, which are $10 general admissions and $8 for birthday parties and scout troops, are available from the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-2787 (ARTS).

"The Mousetrap's" ensemble cast features:
Zoe Feldman of Baltimore, Md. as Mollie Ralston
Philip Merrick of Baltimore, Md. as Giles Ralston
Emil Sueck of Monkton, Md. as Christopher Wren
Karli Shirk of Lutherville, Md. as Mrs. Boyle
Joey Bird of Phoenix, Md. as Major Metcalf
Delaney Hagy of Lutherville, Md. as Miss Casewell
Kaya Vision of Nottingham, Md. as Mr. Paravicini
James Ruth of Dundalk, Md. as Detective Sgt. Trotter
"The Mousetrap" opened 1952 in London and has been playing there continuously ever since. It is the longest running show of any kind in theater history.

The setting, Monkswell Manor, is a guesthouse just opened by newlyweds Mollie and Giles Ralston. Their first guests - Wren, Boyle, Metcalf and Casewell - arrive during a blizzard, followed by an Italian stranger, Paravicini, who got stuck in the snow. Detective Sgt. Trotter, who is there to investigate a previous murder, soon joins them. Sergeant Trotter believes that someone at the Manor had a connection to the murder victim. The murderer may well be among the Manor's residents. All of the guests, and the Ralstons, deny any connection to this crime, but bits and pieces start to reveal ties to the victim. The twists of the plot will keep you riveted to your seat until the surprise ending.

"The Mousetrap" will be performed 1 p.m. Oct. 29 and 30, and Nov. 5 and 6 in the Building J Lecture Hall at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. Tickets are $10.00 regular admission and $8.00 for birthday parties or scout troops, and are available in advance by calling the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS Tuesday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm; tickets are also available at the door. The Nov. 5 show will be sign language interpreted by students in the CCBC Catonsville American Sign Language certification program.

The J Building Lecture Hall is a wheelchair-accessible facility. Patrons requiring special accommodations are urged to inform the Box Office at the time of ticket purchase.
