Children's Playhouse of Maryland Announces Details for Gala and 'JOSEPH' Auditions, 7/27

The Children's Playhouse of Maryland will be presenting JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT on both September 11, 2010 as our annual Fundraising Gala on the mainstage of CCBC and as our opening production in our next season September 18 - October 3, 2010, in our home theatre in the J Building.

As always, if you have participated in a CPM show, class or camp, within the last season - you are welcome to be a part of the Gala on September 11th. The CPM student participation in the gala will be a member of the 'Joseph Student Choir'. You do not need to audition for this, just to have been part of CPM within the last season. If you are interested in participating in the Gala AND the run of the show you must audition. You must participate in the Gala to be in the rest of the run of the show.

Auditions will be held Tuesday, July 27 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm in the J Building Auditorium/Theatre. Please bring a prepared song (one verse and one chorus or 16 bars) and the sheet music. CD's are welcome as long as there are no vocals on the CD.

Be prepared to do a movement audition by dressing comfortably and bringing or wearing the proper shoes. There is no dialogue in "Joseph" so there will be no readings from a script.

Anyone under the age of 18 (or 18 and still in high school) is welcome to audition. We are looking for the cast members as well as a children's choir. All roles are open and none are precast.

This is the only date for auditions and performance conflicts are not accepted.

Show dates are:
9/11 - 7:00pm
9/18, 19, 25,26, @ 1:00pm
9/19 @ 4:00pm
10/2, 3 @ 1:00pm

Remember, you do not need to audition to be in the Gala Choir, and if you are in the Gala choir, you do not need to be in the entire run of the show.

The fall session of acting classes are now enrolling. The Saturday morning performance playhouse will take place from 10am - 12pm for children ages 6 - 11. The Saturday afternoon performance playhouse will take place 1pm - 2pm for ages 4 - 6. The Monday evening advanced acting will take place in Theatre III from 6:30pm - 8pm for children ages 10 -15. A dance class for boys will take place on Sundays from 12-1pm. Lastly, there will be a tap class on Sundays from 1pm-2pm.
