The Children's Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex campus, proudly presents the musical Anything Goes (Beaumont Version), featuring more than 35 student actors from Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Harford County.
Music and lyrics are by Cole Porter; the production is based on a book by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse, Howard Lindsey and Russell Crouse; new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman.
In the CPM production, Simon Gusso of Bel Air appears as Billy Crocker, with Hannah Sikes of Halethorpe as Reno Sweeny and Heidi Thiessen of Owings Mills as Hope Harcourt. Liz Boyer Hunnicutt directs this production; Charlotte Evans is the music director; Amanda Poxon is the choreographer.
Anything Goes combines the classic "boy meets girl" story with shipboard romance and criminal hijinks. On this cruise, Boy loves Girl who is about to marry someone else, and Boy gets Girl #2 to help him get her back. People are falling in and out of love amidst the FBI pursuing Public Enemy #1. Hilarious complications ensue.
Complete with rousing tap numbers and well-known hit tunes like "I Get a Kick Out Of You," "All Through the Night," and "It's DeLovely," Anything Goes is a must-see for the whole family.
