Winters Lane Productions is a community based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to presenting the region's residents and visitors with quality theatrical productions, special events and education programs in order to make the Baltimore Region a more conscious and compassionate community.

They will present CHESS in Concert February 6-8, 2009 at the Q Theatre, CCBC Catonsville, 800 South Rolling Road in Maryland.

From the creative giants behind such mega-hits as Mamma Mia, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Evita comes one of the greatest contemporary musical scores of our generation. Inspired by the Boris Spassky/Bobby Fischer chess rivalry of the 70's, Chess weaves an international drama around a respected Russian world champion, a brash up and coming American contender known as much for his bad boy behavior away from the board as his aggressive prowess behind it, and the woman who comes between them. Told against a background of cold war politics, international scandal, espionage, lies, and deceit, the ancient game becomes a metaphor for romantic rivalries, competitive gamesmanship, super power politics, and international intrigues. Composers Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderssen from ABBA join forces with renowned lyricist Tim Rice to create a complex rock opera that played to full houses and standing ovations around the world.

From Bangkok to Budapest the players, lovers, politicians, and spies manipulate and are manipulated to the pulse of a monumental rock score that mixes soaring ballads and contemporary classics as well as haunting chorale pieces such as "Someone Else's Story", "I Know Him So Well", "Heaven Help My Heart", and the 80's radio classic "One Night in Bangkok".

Directed by Mark Briner, and choreography by Jason M. Kimmell, musical direction by R. Christopher Rose. This production stars some of Baltimore's finest performers including: Shawn Doyle, Barbara Hartzell, Robert Tucker, Tamarin Lawler and David Thompson.
