WELCOME UMBC THEATRE TO BROADWAYWORLD.COM!
The newest addition to the ever-growing Baltimore/BroadwayWorld.com family is the UMBC Department of Theatre! Welcome! Their first offering of the new season is Problem Child by Canadian playwright George F. Walker, directed by Colette Searls. The play concerns Denise and R.J., who want their baby back. Holed up in a cheap motel, they impatiently await a social worker's verdict while fending off the antics of a drunken innkeeper. With a wink to Jerry Springer, this strangely twisted comedy exposes the human desperation behind class prejudice and questions the reach of social control. The show offers the following schedule: Tuesday, October 17th – Preview, 8PM, all tickets just $3.00; Wednesday, October 18th – Opening Night, 8PM; Thursday, October 19th – UMBC Community Performance, 4PM, all UMBC students, faculty and staff free; Friday, October 20th, 5PM, Special Performance for UMBC Alumni; Saturday, October 21st, 8PM, and Sunday, October 22nd, 4PM. Tickets (except for tonight’s preview) are $10, $5 for students and seniors. The performance on October 19th is free to the UMBC Community only, regular prices apply to others.
