The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra today announced its Summer 2014 concert season. Programs include a presentation of Michael Curtiz's classic film Casablanca (June 12-14), the annual Star-Spangled Spectacular at Oregon Ridge Park (July 3 & 4), All-Baroque (July 10 & 11) and All-Beethoven (July 24 & 25) celebrations at the Meyerhoff and Strathmore, and Video Games Live (July 26), an immersive concert event featuring music from an array of classic and contemporary video games at the Meyerhoff. Calendar and concert information is below. For more info please visit BSOmusic.org.

A Symphonic Night at the Movies: Casablanca
The summer begins with a presentation of the classic 1942 motion picture Casablanca. Starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid, the Academy Award-winning film brings hope and heartache to the big screen as the orchestra performs Max Steiner's famous soundtrack live under the baton of Maestro Emil de Cou, June 12 & 13 at 8 p.m. at the Meyerhoff and Saturday, June 14 at 8 p.m. at Strathmore.

A Star-Spangled Spectacular
Baltimore's favorite Fourth of July tradition returns: the Star-Spangled Spectacular at Oregon Ridge Park (Cockeysville, Md.) on July 3 & 4 features patriotic favorites that culminate in a brilliant fireworks display. Actor and conductor Damon Gupton (seen in Unfaithful, The Last Airbender and FOX TV series "Rake") leads soloist Soloman Howard and the BSO in selections such as Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever and more. Each concert begins with the National Anthem, sung by the winner(s) of the BSO's seventh annual "O, Say Can You Sing?" competition. (Full details about the competition, including audition information, will be announced at a later date.)

All-Baroque
On July 10 at The Music Center at Strathmore and July 11 at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, BSO Concertmaster Jonathan Carney leads the orchestra in music by Baroque masters Johann Sebastian Bach, Arcangelo Corelli and Alessandro Scarlatti. He is joined by BSO soloists Assistant Concertmaster Igor Yuzefovich, Principal Cello Dariusz Skoraczewski and Principal Trumpet Andrew Balio, and guest soprano Nola Richardson.

All-Beethoven
Maestro Josep Caballé-Domenech makes his debut with the BSO in an All- Beethoven program July 24 at Strathmore and July 25 at the Meyerhoff. American rising star Andrew Staupe, also making his BSO debut, performs the masterful Third Piano Concerto. Beethoven's inspired evocation of nature, the Symphony No. 6, "Pastoral," brings the concert to a rousing conclusion.

Video Games Live
Music from the greatest and most popular video games of all time comes to the Meyerhoff on July 26, featuring Maestro Emmanuel Fratianni leading selections from MegaMan, Silent Hill 2, Metroid, Shadow of the Colossus, Journey, Mass Effect, StarCraft II, Dota 2, Beyond Good & Evil and more. Video Games Live also includes music from the upcoming release Destiny and new arrangements from Final Fantasy and World of Warcraft. The immersive concert experience includes synchronized lighting, live action and audience interactivity, making it the biggest and most popular video game concert in the world.
