The Baltimore Shakespeare Factory has announced open enrollment for its fall Touchstone Players production of The Tempest. Students entering grades 3 - 8 can experience what it might be like to travel back in time to the 1600s and be a part of the fun and excitement of Shakespeare's Acting Company-The King's Men. Participants will hone their acting skills, make friends, build confidence, and develop an appreciation and understanding of Shakespeare's work. Plus, it's a "malmsey-butt" of fun!
Performances will be held on Fri. October 18th at 7:30pm & Sat. October 19th at 2pm. Tickets for these performances are $5. Rehearsals run from 6-8 pm starting Tues, September 17 and run Tues, Wed, and Thurs. Participants are not required to attend every rehearsal. Dress rehearsal will be held on October 17th. All rehearsals and performances will be held in The Great Hall Theatre at St. Mary's Community Center (3900 Roland Ave. Baltimore, MD 21211). A participation fee of $250 (before 8/26) or $300 (8/27 and after) will be collected. A sibling discount of $25 is available and there is limited availability in the program for 5-8 year olds. Enrollment will be capped at 35 students. Registration is available online at http://theshakespearefactory.com/store.
During the rehearsal process, students will have the opportunity to:
- Work one-on-one with professional actors and educators
- Learn and practice the same acting techniques Baltimore Shakespeare Factory uses in its productions
- Study Shakespeare's poetic language in ways that make it easy to understand, and learn how to use it to inform their performance
- Bring some of Shakespeare's most famous characters to life!

The Baltimore Shakespeare Factory is built on a love of language, and productions are designed to not only help audiences understand Shakespeare's words, but to love them, too.
