The Baltimore Playwrights Festival, www.baltplayfest.org, will accept submissions of new plays for its 35th Season thru May 31, 2015. A limit of 85 plays will be accepted this season, so get your plays in early. Any playwright currently residing or working in Maryland or the District of Columbia, or who has previously lived or worked within Maryland or D.C., is eligible to submit. Plays must not have received a staged production (lines memorized and tickets sold) at any time prior to or at the time of submission. Only electronic submissions of plays via the BPF website will be accepted. There is a $10 submission fee for each script submitted, and each playwright may only submit one script for consideration each season. Complete submission guidelines are provided at www.baltplayfest.org.

Those scripts chosen for production during the summer of 2016 will be judged by a panel of independent judges during production. Cash awards will be presented to the winners at an annual Awards Celebration: $250 for First Place, $100 for Second Place and $50 for Third Place Script.

Some of the submitted scripts will receive public readings. Scripts are recommended for readings by the reading committee and as many readings are given as resources allow.

During the last thirty-four years, The Baltimore Playwrights Festival has presented over 288 productions by 180 playwrights at 27 different theaters. We have read and evaluated over 2800 plays. The BPF nurtures the talents of Maryland and DC playwrights through public readings, discussions, critiques and workshopping of new plays. Participating local theaters offer productions of several of the submitted scripts during their summer season. Further information can be found on the BPF website, www.baltplayfest.org.
